Abstract
The Holy Qurʾan is a book of guidance which God sent down to be a shining lamp by which people walk and a straight path to which they hold fast. Working scholars and sincere believers therefore knew its worth, and many of them set themselves to the service of the Book of God and its sciences and to inquiry into its treasures and its hidden things, while others set themselves to learn the wisdom and rulings it contains, to establish the etiquette of its recitation, the correct manner of reading it, and the mastery and precision of the articulation of its letters and words, laying down the known rules for this. Omanis were not apart from this: they produced many works on the Qurʾanic sciences out of a desire to serve this noble Book, to sound its depths and to teach and enlighten people concerning it. This paper presents examples of those works.
