Abstract
The importance of this subject lies in presenting an instance of the Omani contribution to the service of the Holy Qurʾan and its sciences; in setting out Abū al-Ḥawārī's method in juristic questions; and in establishing his juristic preferences within his commentary. The reasons for choosing the subject are to set out Abū al-Ḥawārī's efforts in his commentary, to bring out the role and efforts of the Ibāḍī school in exegesis and the Qurʾanic sciences, and to identify one of the juristic aspects of al-Dirāyah wa-Kanz al-Ghināyah. The study follows an inductive-analytical method and is divided into an introduction, a preliminary section and three chapters: the preliminary section introduces Imam Abū al-Ḥawārī and his commentary and then his juristic sources within it, while the first chapter treats his method of presentation.
