Abstract

The Omani library abounds with a great scholarly heritage across the various arts of learning and knowledge: the scholars of Oman left many varied works marked by breadth and diversity of composition. Omanis gave their attention to many different fields of learning, entering their gates, treading their arenas and reaching their summits, so that they excelled in composition and added new material to what earlier scholars had left, writing in these sciences both abridgements and extended works, some of which exceed seventy volumes. Whoever considers these books is confirmed in the view that Omani scholars gave great attention to the Qurʾan, and this study surveys the questions relating to the Qurʾanic sciences as they appear scattered through the Omani juristic compendia from the fourth to the eleventh Hijri century.
