Abstract
The movement of exegesis of the Qurʾanic text is in continual renewal and has not halted at any particular period, nor with any one group or school — a consequence of the compositional nature of the Qurʾanic text, whose giving extends across time and place. The various Islamic schools have contributed by pausing over the Qurʾanic text in interpretation and exposition, and among these schools is the Ibāḍī school, which had its own method in interpreting the Holy Qurʾan and in attending to its several sciences. One who examines the exegetical history of this school finds it among the oldest schools to have paused over the text, and this study sets out the features and characteristics of its exegetical method.
