Abstract

Modern Omani literature has been able to join the procession of civilization and to take part in the movement of modern world criticism through engagement with the sources and wellsprings of that criticism. A generation of Omani critics has emerged who work with world criticism and its terminology as their counterparts do in the various centres of Arab scholarship. This paper asks how far world criticism has in fact influenced contemporary Omani criticism, and sets out to answer that question.
