Abstract
This study treats the role of Omani women in rooting ethics through an inductive survey of the biographical works and the Omani juristic compendia, taking women as a central educational and social agent in building and strengthening values, disciplining conduct in society, and forming an essential pillar in ethical and educational upbringing, in the shaping of ethical thought and in the formation of social value-awareness. The study aims to bring out the presence of Omani women in the biographical works and juristic compendia in respect of their ethical role, to analyse the ethical dimensions associated with women as those works reflect them, to set out women's contributions to strengthening values within family and society, and to connect the juristic heritage with the reality of contemporary women in the ethical dimension. The plan of the study required treatment in three parts: the first discusses the adornment of Omani women with values, ethics and uprightness of conduct; the second examines women's roles within the family, their starting points and dimensions; and the third examines women's role in spreading and strengthening ethical values in society.
