Abstract
The Sultanate of Oman shares a border of some 288 kilometres with the Republic of Yemen to its west, which imposed upon Oman an ethical role in the course of the Yemeni events that battered Yemen over the past decade. The wisdom of Oman's leaders in drawing on its long record of neutrality and moderate engagement with regional disputes helped it to achieve the role of a neutral mediator in the Yemeni conflict. This paper explores the ethical role of the Sultanate of Oman in the current Yemeni crisis by identifying the mechanisms the Sultanate has followed, whether through the treatment of the wounded, the opening of its borders for passage, or the reception of Yemeni, regional and international delegations within efforts to establish peace and bring viewpoints closer. The study proceeds by tracing the statements of the parties to the conflict in television interviews and in written outlets, which define the nature of the Sultanate's ethical role and how it has affected the peace-building process up to 2024.
