Oman and Japan: Present and Future Namie Tsujigami Project Associate Professor The University of Tokyo Since 1972 when Oman and Japan have officially established diplomatic relationship, both countries renewed its strong political, diplomatic, economic and cultural relationship. Thanks to Oman’s political stability and friendly policies towards Japan, Japan was able to forged strong ties in the fields of energy, trade, water, human resources, infrastructure development, tourism, culture, science and education, and security. In addition to the above-mentioned bilateral relations, Oman and Japan’s multilateral exchanges including the Middle East Research Center that was set up within the framework of the Middle East Peace Process. In an increasingly globalizing world, the bonds formed between two countries are becoming important than ever. Following are some of the examples of such exchanges. Royal and Prominent Exchanges Royal visits have encouraged efforts to enhance the uniqueness and richness of the Oman-Japan bilateral relationship. These include the visit of H. H. In addition to these bilateral relations, Oman and Japan have maintained multilateral exchanges, including the Middle East Research Center established within the framework of the Middle East Peace Process. In an increasingly globalizing world, the bonds formed between the two countries carry significance beyond the bilateral, and this paper examines the present state of the relationship and the directions in which it may develop.
