Oman and Japan: Present and Future
Abstract
Since 1972, when Oman and Japan officially established diplomatic relations, both countries have renewed a strong political, diplomatic, economic and cultural relationship. Thanks to Oman's political stability and its friendly policies towards Japan, Japan was able to forge strong ties in the fields of energy, trade, water, human resources, infrastructure development, tourism, culture, science and education, and security. In addition to these bilateral relations, Oman and Japan have maintained multilateral exchanges, including the Middle East Research Center established within the framework of the Middle East Peace Process. In an increasingly globalizing world, the bonds formed between the two countries carry significance beyond the bilateral, and this paper examines the present state of the relationship and the directions in which it may develop.
