Abū Muslim al-Bahlānī wa-Dawruhu fī Waḥdat al-Ummah al-Islāmīyah

Abstract
This paper treats the figure of Abū Muslim al-Bahlānī and his considerable role in the unity of the Muslim community. The poet Abū Muslim was a man with a message: through it he shared the concerns of the community and sent out his call to reform and to the enjoining of good and the forbidding of wrong. His call and his message were not confined to his homeland Oman but passed beyond it to take in many Arab and Islamic countries. His is among the great personalities that have a presence and an imprint in history — of the two kinds of people, as it has been said, one made by events and another that makes history. The paper examines his poetry and his public work as instruments of that unifying message, and the reach they attained beyond Oman.
