Abstract
Sayyid Saʿīd ibn Sulṭān al-Būsaʿīdī is an important and prominent figure in modern Omani history: in his era Oman reached the height of its civilizational flourishing and extended geographically to take in several regions of the western Indian Ocean — within Oman, along the Baluchi coast, the Persian coast and the East African coast — and Oman in his time formed a centre attracting world trade, its important ports playing the role of commercial intermediary between East and West. Peace is among the most important factors of the civilizational flourishing that marked the Omani empire, which in the period of Sayyid Saʿīd's rule witnessed peace and great civilizational refinement in the various aspects of life; several factors contributed to spreading peace and security and achieving that flourishing. The importance of the research lies in shedding light on the means by which the unity of the community was achieved in that period.
