Abstract
The Prophetic biography, like other influences, has inspired the Omani poet from the Islamic era to the present day, being one of the foundations of Islamic belief, an original guide of the Muslim personality and a fixed source of law. For these reasons poets made their verse a means of expressing their love for the Prophet, a way of drawing near to him, and a linguistic instrument transmitted in gatherings and study circles for remembrance and reminder. A great deal of such poetry emerged on the tongues of Omani poets, varied in occasion and purpose, until some of it came to be recited in official state gatherings, for which appointments are set and which are attended at every level. Among the Omani poets who gave a share of their verse to praise of the Prophet are al-Lawwāḥ al-Kharūṣī, who lived in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries CE, Abū Muslim al-Bahlānī in the nineteenth century, and ʿAbd Allāh al-Khalīlī in the twentieth. The researcher chose these poets for the difference of their periods and the fame of their verse, and compares them.
