This research treats the presence of the Prophetic biography in the commentary of Imam Nūr al-Dīn al-Sālimī on the Musnad of Imam al-Rabīʿ ibn Ḥabīb, and its scholarly and educational function. Its importance arises from the small number of studies that have addressed the invocation of the sīrah within Omani hadith commentaries, given the scholarly standing that al-Sālimī's commentary holds in the Ibāḍī hadith tradition. The problem is expressed in the following question: how did Imam al-Sālimī invoke the Prophetic biography in his commentary on the Musnad, and what scholarly functions did that invocation perform? The research aims to record the places where the sīrah appears in the commentary, to reveal the patterns of its employment, and to analyse its functions in juristic exposition, educational guidance and the setting of a hadith within its Prophetic context. It follows an inductive-analytical method, tracing the passages with a biographical dimension in al-Sālimī's commentary and analysing their contexts and scholarly functions, and is organised in four chapters.
