Learning the Holy Qurʾan at a Distance

Abstract
A method of teaching has recently emerged that uses the mechanisms of communication — computers and networks — to convey information to the student in the shortest time, with the least effort and the greatest benefit. The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Oman has completed the project for teaching the Holy Qurʾan at a distance, in order to develop its teaching and memorisation for the largest number of learners however far the distances, and to give new Muslims the opportunity to become acquainted with the Holy Qurʾan, its rulings, its recitation and its memorisation. Within the fourth conference theme, and after examining this blessed project, the paper presents its principal advantages by comparison with traditional methods of memorisation, and points to the necessary preparatory periods, the technical preparations and the integrative aspects needed for the project to succeed and be extended to Muslims of every background.
