The book brings out the nature of the interactive relationship between Omanis and Swahilis as a relationship founded on civilizational exchange rather than domination, which formed a distinctive coastal identity whose effects extended into language, culture and social systems. The problem of the research lies in the small number of studies that have treated this book as a text revealing that influence, and the study accordingly reads it analytically as a historical and cultural source.
