الدور الحضاري لعمان في وحدة الأمة الإسلامية: دراسة تاريخية لمقومات المكان وحكمة الإنسان
Abstract
Not all of the past still stirs the curiosity of those concerned to know it, yet at the same time we cannot dispense with it, particularly that part whose features still bear upon the present in which we live. This applies to the civilizational role in human history, which is a history pulsing with life, inherited across successive generations, and no longer the property of the past alone: its role and importance in the present are greater still, and should it continue or be realised in the future its importance and role will be greater by far. The civilizational role of a people in the unity of the community is usually bound to three temporal indicators and two practical ones. The temporal indicators are a lost past, a present that exists and a promised future; the practical indicators may be negative, in abstaining from all that tears nations apart and disperses their unity, or positive, in contributing and exerting effort in every work that serves unity.
