Abstract

The pioneering Turāth (Heritage) Association of Mzab is among the most venerable cultural and intellectual associations in the Algerian south. Since its founding in 1989 it has given its attention to publishing the Ibāḍī heritage of the East and the West, and its work has repeatedly brought Omani texts before Algerian and wider Arab readers. This paper, presented within the conference theme of Omani publications across the regions of the world, examines the association's activity in editing, printing and distributing Omani works, its cooperation with Omani institutions and scholars, and the effect this has had on making the Omani heritage known in the Maghreb — treating the association as a case of how a scholarly body outside Oman became an agent in the circulation of Omani thought.
