Abstract
Shaykh Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Yūsuf Aṭfayyish is among the most celebrated scholars of the Islamic world in the contemporary period, given the great role he played as one of the foremost workers for the unity of the Islamic world in the dark circumstances of colonial domination and the dispersal of Muslim lands. He was scholarly active in a number of countries: in Egypt he founded the journal al-Minhāj and wrote articles, including many political and social pieces published in Egyptian journals and newspapers; he worked at the Egyptian National Library and took part in editing a number of heritage books. Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm Aṭfayyish was among the earliest pioneers in attending to the Arabic heritage and made himself a place among the leading editors of that period. This study examines his editorial method through Tuḥfat al-Aʿyān bi-Sīrat Ahl ʿUmān.
